Public Philosophy Monographs (1998): Social Policy in the UK: Creating a New Social Contract

As part of its ongoing program on public philosophy, the Carnegie Council initiated a workshop series to address current conceptions of democracy around the world. Papers by Peter Zarrow, William Galston, Hugh Heclo, Veronica Montecinos, Howard Glennerster, and Zsusza Ferge have been published as individual monographs. The monographs, and the program, aim to develop a more nuanced understanding of the values underlying public policies in this era of globalization.
