Francisco Panizza, maître de conférences en politique latino-américaine à la London School of Economics and Political Science, a beaucoup écrit sur le populisme et la politique latino-américaine.
Il est l'auteur de Latin America after the Washington Consensus : The Rise of the Left (2009), et éditeur de Populism and the Mirror of Democracy (2005) et d'un numéro spécial du Bulletin of Latin American Research, "Old and New Populism in Latin America" (2000).
